Made by Viarco, Portugal's only remaining pencil factory (founded 1907), this is a wood-cased artists' water-soluble graphite pencil built around an unusually wide 5mm core. It is sold in two soft grades, 2B and 6B, and can be used dry for dark, rich graphite marks or activated with a wet brush to dissolve into a broad range of grey washes. Part of Viarco's ArtGraf range, it is intended for drawing and mixed-media work, and its marks remain erasable once dry.
