The STABILO Othello (item 282) is a hexagonal, break-resistant graphite pencil from the German maker Schwan-Stabilo (founded 1855), recognisable by its forest-green varnished shaft with light-green pinstriped edges and red-painted cap. It is offered in 10 grades from very soft 4B to very hard 4H (4B, 3B, 2B, B, HB, F, H, 2H, 3H, 4H) with a 2.2mm break-proof lead, and is intended for drawing, sketching, shading and everyday writing. The standard 282 pencil has no eraser; an eraser-tipped version is sold separately under a different item number.
