The Golden Bear is an everyday #2 (HB) wood-cased pencil from California Cedar Products (CalCedar), the maker behind the Palomino and Blackwing brands. It is cased in genuine California-grown incense-cedar with an eraser tip, and sold in lacquered blue or orange hexagonal barrels (each with a contrasting-colour eraser), plus a larger round "jumbo" version in the same #2 grade. Production moved to the USA in 2012, and CalCedar markets it as an affordable, durable pencil for classroom, home and office writing.
